Don Rea

Don’s career began as an investment banker specializing in tax exempt underwritings. He joined with Andy and Charlie Zappala to build Pennsylvania’s largest underwriter of tax exempt bonds, Russell, Rea and Zappala which underwrote more than $30B of tax exempt issues. While at RRZ, Don, through affiliates, led the development of two hydroelectric dams, the nation’s largest waste to energy facility outside of Philadelphia, and the financing and development of a large landfill just east of Pittsburgh. Don led Laurel’s efforts to work with Casella Waste System to acquire its first two solid waste landfills in Vermont and New Hampshire. He played an integral role in all of the Liberty consolidation plays and remains Vice Chairman of Liberty Tire Recycling. Don received his BS from Penn State University and MBA from the University of Chicago.

He is married and lives in Pittsburgh and has two children, both married, and two grandchildren.
